“I would recommend this course to anyone who, like most of us, has felt that she/he is constantly thinking about the future rather than living now, because thinking about what others expect you to do is often much worse than actually tackling things in a mindful way.

Before the course I felt at times that I was drowning in a sea of things that I had to do, I worried about what people would think of me if I didn't deal with everything, and deal with it well.

By the end of the course I realised that I was calm enough to deal with immediate issues and that nothing terrible would happen if I prioritised things and related these priorities to my own values.

I have fewer panicky moments and feel able to slow my mind rather than imagine the worst possible scenarios. I already feel calmer (mostly) and have found effective ways of focussing on what I value.

The different meditations have been invaluable, also the realisation that thoughts are not facts.
I really enjoyed getting to know some lovely, interesting people, sharing thoughts and feelings with honesty and sensitivity.

The way in which John and Joy responded to each comment, question etc showed insight and demonstrated their knowledge and skills around
mindfulness and meditation. We were all gently encouraged to interact which led to a much better understanding of other people's thoughts and experiences.

All of the team made us feel welcome at each session -although we are glad that John and Joy didn't mirror Lora whose attentions usually included nuzzles, sniffs and lying on her back wanting her belly rubbed!

How to Care for Someone Dealing with Anxiety

The approach needed to help someone with anxiety varies greatly from person to person. No two cases are the same and each person has their own unique combination of circumstances to navigate through. For most anxiety sufferers though this is like an uphill battle through an un-solveable puzzle. If you’ve ever been close to someone with anxiety it can be heartbreaking to see the effects, and hard to know how to help them.

It can be pretty challenging to care for someone with anxiety or depression. If they are close friend or family member, we feel it as a responsibility to offer our support and help them feel that they are not alone in their battles.
