This workshop is for people who are affected by low level or persistent anxiety and would like to do something to improve the situation. It provides an introduction to using mindfulness and other self-help tools to help calm an anxious mind.
NOTE: This is NOT a therapy or counselling group where you will be required to share personal details about your problems.
It will be held in the Ranmoor Parish Centre on Tuesday 5th April 6:30PM – 9:30PM
Do you sometimes feel anxious in everyday situations?
Anxiety seems to be on the rise and if you’re affected by it, it’s not usually obvious what you can do about it. If you don’t know how to calm your anxious mind, you’ll probably end up designing your life around avoiding difficult situations. This can result in you living a restricted life with no peace of mind.
Today doctors are finding that anxiety is one of the most common conditions being presented at their sugeries. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be an anxious person it’s easy to be affected by the anxiety of others around you.
Mindfulness is a great skill that can help you see anxiety inducing situations more clearly, and have more choice around how you respond. Instead of anxiety driving your life decisions, you’ll be more able to use your mindfulness skills to find a more workable way to engage with life more calmly and confidently.
Mindfulness Mavericks, John Nolan and Joy Taylor, have designed this 3-hour introductory workshop for you to experience and learn more about mindful ways of coping with anxiety and calming your mind, in a small friendly group.
On this workshop you’ll learn about:
- Why anxiety is on the rise
- What it is and how it affects your mind and body
- How to let go of anxiety as it arises
- How to avoid anxiety snowballing into something that stops you from living a full life
- Practical tools and tips you can use to help yourself for the rest of your life
