Mindfulness can help us clearly see our emotions which in turn help us deal with them more effectively. A native American tale about the two wolves perfectly illustrates the idea. This is how the story goes:
One day, in a simple and quiet village, a grandmother was sitting in a log near the village’s bonfire. It was a perfect place to rest after a long day. Watching the other villagers pass by, she noticed her granddaughter sitting on a rock under a tree not far from where she was sitting. Her face was angry and torn like she had a horrible day. She called her and asked her granddaughter to sit with her. “What’s wrong child?,” the grandmother spoke. “I am angry with a friend who did something wrong to me today. She’s a good friend but I am starting to hate her,” the granddaughter answered. Her grandmother smiled warmly at her and said, “Let me tell you a story.”
