Here’s a unique time-limited opportunity for Samaritans volunteers and their families to be helped by a new therapy called Havening – for free!
Hi, I’m John Nolan you may have seen me around the centre, either on the phones or training. If you don’t know me you may have seen my gorgeous guide dog Lora – I’m the human being that’s usually attached!
You may recall that at the end of last year I ran an eight week mindfulness course for Samaritans and their families. This was incredibly well received and well attended. What is available here is an equally unique opportunity for you.
For 20 years I’ve been helping people one-to-one in my private practice using a range of therapy approaches including, mindfulness, coaching, and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). Last May 2014 I learned about, then started to train in a brand new therapy called Havening. It’s very effective and is proving to help shift problems that other therapeutic approaches can’t reach. Additionally it can do this amazing work in an incredibly short space of time, some issues just a few sessions rather than potentially years of therapy.
I’m excited about the great results I’m seeing with Havening and this year I plan to complete my professional qualification. As part of my updated qualification I need to submit 30 case studies for my assessment.
What I’ve decided to do is offer Sheffield Sams volunteers and their families the opportunity to get Havening help from me for free, this will help you, and help me to quickly complete my case studies.
If after reading this page you feel this isn’t appropriate for you then please feel free to pass this on to someone else you know who could benefit.
What is Havening?
Havening is a scientifically based approach that helps people deal with past events and incidents that were traumatic or exceedingly stressful, and are still causing problems today.
It uses a combination of talking, visualisation, eye movements and therapeutic touch to change the way the brain stores memories of difficult events. What it can do is de-link the painful emotions from a traumatic memory. This means you’ll still remember the event but it won’t have a negative emotional impact.
Why I’m passionate about using this approach…
It’s a fast, painless, effective, scientifically proven, tried and tested way of gently releasing people from the grips of ongoing, unnecessary suffering. As I have a scientific mind and a passion for healing this ticks all my boxes for how I’d like to use my therapy skills.
It can help with almost any problem, block or trauma.
Some examples are…
- Past traumatic or stressful events that are still intruding into your thoughts and feelings today. An extreme example would be PTSD.
- Intrusive thoughts, feelings, body sensations or pains that seem to have no rational explanation, and don’t seem to be connected to a memory of a previous related event. Examples include panic attacks or anxiety attacks.
- Emotional challenges such as depression. anxiety, chronic stress or severe self-esteem issues which have not responded fully to conventional talking therapies. After therapy for these issues, you may have had relief, or partial relief for a while, but the underlying issue keeps coming back.
- Irrational fears and phobias, for example spiders, crowds, etc.
Could this help you?
The short answer is – we don’t know until we give it a go. For many conditions Havening is proving to be effective. Even though tens of thousands of people have received Havening therapy worldwide to date, it is still a new discipline.
If you feel or think that you might benefit from Havening then please call me on 014 4070106. If after a brief conversation it looks like Havening could be right for you I can arrange to see you formally as a case study client and start the Havening process. I have access to a room we can use in Nether Green.
What would be involved?
Initial sessions will be two hours long. Once we get started, the process is usually quite quick, however sometimes it can take more than an hour for you to settle in and access the most useful bits of information. In most cases we will also have a follow-up session usually within a week or two and under the same financial basis as the first session. Very occasionally, if appropriate we may go on to a third or even a fourth session, again all at no charge to you.
Sessions will be held in our private practice room in Nether Green. This private, comfortable space is not a formal therapy centre with receptionist and a waiting room. This means we need to manage the appointments carefully.
We’ll book a specific time for you to arrive at and reserve 2 hours just for you. Please don’t arrive early as this could interrupt my previous client. Our sessions will always end on time so please don’t arrive late or it will shorten your session.
What I require from you
Permission to use your case notes for assessment. I need to provide 30 written case studies for my assessment. You need to give your permission for me to send your details to my assessor. These details will be anonymous.
Punctuality and commitment.
Spreading the word (Optional) Tell other people how helpful my Havening treatments have been for you. Havening isn’t magic, however the results can feel like magic. Many people get what appears to be unbelievable, long lasting results. Assuming you also get good results, I would appreciate you letting other people know how great it is. These days old school adverts are pricey and nobody tends to believe them. An honest sincere recommendation from a trusted person is the kind of high-integrity advertising I’m looking for to be able to reach and help more people.
Written recommendation (Optional) When somebody is looking for help with a difficult problem, they want to hear that others have been helped before them. This gives them the courage to ask for help and do something constructive to get unstuck from their problems. A few honest words from you about your experience can be invaluable to help release someone else from their distress. (If you prefer, this can be anonymous and doesn’t have to include specific details of past events.)
Video recommendation (Optional). For those of you who are comfortable doing so (I know most people won’t be, and that’s fine) a short video sharing your experience and results will be even more useful in helping people decide whether or not to ask for my help.
Do you want me to help you get past your blocks with Havening?
Give me a call on (0114) 407 0106 or firstname.lastname@example.org (note, the first time you email me, my spam protection system will ask you to confirm you are real.) We can either speak at the time you call, or I may need to arrange a different time with you. If I’m not there leave a message and I will get back to you. If appropriate, we’ll arrange a session together, I’ll take your contact details and I’ll make sure you have all the details of where to find me.
If you feel this isn’t for you but you know someone close to you who might benefit, give them these details and get them to call me. Remember that this is a limited time offer for the free places so please get your request in as soon as possible.
