Our teeth are important, and not just to look good. Bad teeth have a high correlation to many health conditions, some of which are mentioned in the article below. I know there is a strong link to heart and circulatory problems, we actually know the mechanism, and also a linkage to dementia.
Also I know there are many people were frightened or even terrified of visiting the dentist. Many people only visits a dentist when things have gone badly wrong and usually if they’re already in a huge amount of pain. As you probably know, this is far too late.
I have absolutely no idea whether acupuncture could help you if you have a fear of the dentist.
A warning about studies, as usual I come at the studies from a different angle to most. Most of these studies are about finding how a typical person would respond to a particular treatment. But this is a very different question than somebody asking what will help me.
Undoubtedly, when working with small groups or individuals, I found myself using approaches that wouldn’t work for 99% of people but it works for them. These outliers are usually never referenced in studies.
What if acupuncture where the right thing for you?
I am not trained in acupuncture, nor do I use it, and I have only occasionally had treatments myself. Personally I cannot say that my treatments did anything for me. However I do know people for whom acupuncture has been a significant benefit.

Researchers reviewed six trials involving 800 patients and found that when dental patients received acupuncture as a treatment, their anxiety reduced by eight points on an 80-point scale.
