Recently I read a fascinating book called Lost Connections. Initially I thought it was just going to be yet another of the many books I read looking for new ideas and understandings.
It turned out that it was based on clear research as to the true causes of many forms of mental illness including anxiety, depression, panic attacks and so on. Spoiler alert very few of the real underlying causes that can be shown by research are linked to something wrong with the individual.
This recent research article I found just confirms what I read in the book.
And as additional evidence think of what’s happening here in the UK. Real wages are falling. More people are worried about their financial futures, interest rate hikes being threatened and the like. And what! People are surprised the depression, anxiety and phobias run the increase!
I’d appreciate your thoughts on this topic, please leave a comment below.
